Welcome to our December challenges as well as a welcome to a wonderful new Design Team Member.

Please meet Katy Donaldson Taylor -

I'm am married to my soul mate. I'm a mother to three sons that keep me busy and a daughter that keeps life interesting. I'm a working mother by day and a papercrafter by night. I've been crafty since I was a little girl...spending Spring Breaks and Summers with my grandmothers who were artists in their own way. I grew up sitting in the pews of old Country Churches, drawing on the bulletins. I officially started scrapbooking in high school which was very primitive to say the least. I've been a Close To My Heart Consultant for 12 years and love it! On weeknights and weekends, in the midst of all the chaos, you can find me in my scrapbook room getting creative!

Welcome Katy!  I know you are going to make an awesome addition to our fabulous team!

Today for you we have a layout sketch -

Bev Code's photo.
with some inspiration from our talented team -
Leah Burgett
Paula Jennings

Cara Goedeking
Our Card Sketch:

 from Alicia Redshaw

 from our newest member-
Katy Donaldson Taylor

and our scripture inspiration is:
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
and a wonderful inspiration piece from
Debbie Reed

We hope that you will take some time out of your busy schedule and join us in any of the above challenges.  And also, keep watch for the announcement of our November winner!

Fun New Technique to Share with You...

Cara here to share a fun technique with you.

I LOVE Pinterest!! Any other Pinterest lovers out there?

I love all the fun crafty ideas...I want to share one of the newest ideas I found with you. I'm a washi tape fanatic (and remember if you don't have washi tape you can always use patterned paper scraps...which I KNOW everyone has!!!).

This idea is from Doodlebug designer Melinda Spinks...

1. First cut/score/fold all your cards using white card stock and make them 4" x 5".
2. Layer your strips of washi tape to the front of each card. Melinda left a 3/4" margin at the top and bottom.

3. Turn the cards over and cut off your excess tape using a new blade on your craft knife.

4. Using more white card stock, cut a front panel for each of your cards measuring 3.5" x 4.5".
5. Cut your Christmas shape from each panel (use die cutting machine or punch).
6. Decorate the front of each panel and then use foam pop dots to adhere to the front of your cards.

Aren't these so cute? You could also use the same method to make a Christmas present out of a square die cut (or cut out the square yourself with a craft knife). Add a bow and a saying, and you're good to go. Or use different washi tape and make it a BIRTHDAY present for a birthday card!

The possibilities are many...I'm thinking with a heart die cut, cute red and pink washi tape and a Valentine's saying, you could have an adorable Valentine's card.

Or...for an "everyday" card, you could do the same with cloud dies/punches and use blue/aqua washi tape. I can't wait to try this myself!! Have fun creating! ~Cara

My Everyday Miracle with Leah

Hello everyone! Leah here and I want to share with you two things. First, I want to share something personal about my son, Noah.  A couple of weeks ago he was baptized!

I am beyond thrilled about this! When he got into the water with the pastor, the pastor asked him a question.  He asked, "Do you take God as your Lord and Savior?" Noah answered matter of factly, "Yes! He IS the Lord and Savior and shouldn't we all?" I love my son's honesty.  The pastor shared this with the congregation followed by several amens.
Seond, I wanted to share some of my favorite Bible verses on being thankful:

Psalm 107:1
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Ephesians 5:20
Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests be made known to God.

Psalm 100:4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!

And my personal favorite:
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
Love to all,

In The Word Wednesday

Click HERE to go to our November Thankful Challenge

I recently made a little mini journal on the attributes of God.  It really made me dig into the Word and really study on who God is.  It was amazing!  Our God is so awesome!
I would like to share some of the Scripture I found on His Attributes with you.
Psalm 90:1,2
Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.  Before the mountains where brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Isaiah 40:28
Have you not known?  Have you not heard?  The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
Jeremiah 24:24
Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.
Genesis 18:14
Is anything to hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.
Psalm 102:27
But You are the same, and Your years have no end.
Psalm 77:14
You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your might among the peoples.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created him, male and female He created them.
These are just some of His attributes...there are so many more!
Here is one of my pages that I made:

I hope this gets you to dig into the Word and discover for yourself just how amazing, powerful, and Holy our God is.

In Everything Give Thanks - Heartfelt Inspiration

Click HERE to go to our Current October Challenge

Hi....Debbie here.   I had a close friend whom has passed away several years ago who wrote amazing poems that were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Here name was Helen Johnson.
I maintained her website when she was alive.
The website is still up online...but can no longer be maintained.
Here is her website:  Helen's Poetic Gallery

Are you having a difficult time coping with all of the problems which are overwhelming you?
My friend if you will begin to give thanks to your heavenly Father, He will give to you His peace which passeth all understanding and you will feel His joy lifting you up above all of these problems and all that besets you!
~In Everything Give Thanks~
In everything we give thanks to the Lord for He it is who gives to us hope;
When our lives are filled with the bonds of suffering and our hearts are heavy and unable to cope.
Then comes our redeemer and our hope of glory and removes the bonds  of our captivity;
We offer our worship and praise to Him for He is the one who will set us free.
Nothing evil can stand against Him for our God is powerful and He is strong;
Like a shepherd watching over His flock, His eyes are upon us all the day long.
When the evil one tries to come against us he'll search out those who are  helpless and weak;
But our heavenly Father is near to protect us and gives us His words we must speak.
When we speak His words of life giving substance, the evil one will turn tail and flee;
For they are filled with hope and life and will conquer all fear and bring to us the victory.
Let us lift our voices in worship and praise and glorify His precious name;
For He has given to us His promises which are there in His word for us to claim!
Our God is always near to us,
not more than a prayer away;
When He hears our cry He
will quickly come and drive all
our worries and fears away.
Just lift your voice in thankful
praise and give glory and honor
to His lovely name;
Then stand fast and in faith
knowing His promises are there
for you to claim.
          ~Helen Johnson~
From time to time I will be sharing more of her Inspirational poems with you.

Mini Crop Challenge #5: Color Inspirations

Hey hey hey.... :D Helen is here! Every 15 minutes each of our DT members posts one challenge starting at 8 A.M. EST. Scroll up to see the challenge #1, #2, #3 and #4 to play and join the fun!

This is our Mini Crop Challenge #5 for today. I challenge you to create any projects using this color palate:

Here's my first take on this challenge using Bev's Sketch, I tweak a little bit from the sketch:

I used Pathfinding Scrapbooking Kit from Close To My Heart to make this card. I used Woodgrain Embossing Folder to emboss the background.

And one more... I created a digital scrapbook layout using Jen C Designs new collection kit, My Story September and Memory Makers Template Vol.11

So what does come in your mind the first time you see this color palate?

Now, it's your turn. Feel free also to use the sketch to create your project, the important thing is use the color pallette I provided for you. After you create your project, here's how you can link up with our Mini Crop Challenge:
  • Use the Inlinkz button on the side bar to link up your project/s. Please link directly from your blog post (not your general blog) or directly from any of your gallery.
  • Give your name and challenge # for each different challenge you link up.
  • If you write a blog, please mention SEM Challenge and link back to our blog, feel free to grab our blog button from the side bar.
I cannot wait to see your projects. With you playing with us, this Mini Crop is SUPER FUN! :)

Have a fun creating and THANK YOU for joining us today!
