It's So Cool I Have to Share...

Hi all!  It is Jessica here, with a late Thursday post (early Friday for some of you!).  I am sharing a website that I came across recently.  One of the lovely ladies on our Facebook page had shared a couple of daily devotions a while ago.  I finally had the chance to check out the website, Proverbs 31 Ministries, last week.

I signed up for their daily devotions (delivered to my inbox) on the spot!  They are wonderful!  Each day I begin the day by reading a short devotional that is followed up by some questions that get me to take a close look at my life.  That is followed by a power verse.  What more could a woman want?!

The devotionals have really spoken to me as a woman and a mother.  Today's was about teaching our children biblical truths and guiding them down the path of virtue and righteousness.  This is a message I regularly need to be reminded of because it is so easy for me to get caught up in what is going on in the world and my to do's that I forget the most important part of my job as a mother.

I would encourage everyone to go check out the website.  There are several other things on the website that look interesting, but I just haven't had a chance to check them out.  If you find something interesting, leave a comment so that we can all go find it!

Have a blessed day!

It Is All God

We just came home from our 18 days trip to Texas and Oklahoma few days ago. It was SUPER HOT there! (There I said it!) But we survived :)

I took this picture on the way back from Oklahoma when we crossed the border between Oklahoma and Texas. It was sunset and so gorgeous. That moment truly reminds me of our God and what He has done from the the beginning of we were planning for this trip 2 months ago until the day we went back home.

God is faithful.
God is gracious.
God is God.

I praise God for every single thing that happened in our trip. He made it happened. He made if fruitful. He gets the credit and praise.

First, we were planning for a long road trip, but a week before we left, God provided just enough credit card points for us to buy the round trip tickets through a couple from our church family.

Second, we were planning to rent a car for 2 weeks were there but God provided a free car for us to use from the first day until the last day we were there through my cousin.

Third, God has his own plan. Unexpected thing happened while we were staying with my cousin. His brother (my other cousin) passed away suddenly in Indonesia. He had to go back home right then. God provided the tickets for him in 6 hours! It was a big long holiday in Indonesia at that time, Ied Mubarak (Muslim Holiday), one of the big holiday when you cannot get any tickets for traveling because they are sold out a month before. So that was a miracle God made for him to get the tickets on that holiday to go back to his hometown to be with his parents and his family for the funeral.

Fourth, God opened so many opportunities for us to share with people the desire to serve Him as missionaries in Southeast Asia at couple churches (we didn't plan this, God led us through our friends!).

Fifth, God led us to meet with people who have hearts for mission works in Southeast Asia and showed to them the needs of His Gospel among the people. God opened and touched their hearts to pray for those people.

Sixth, God used our friends and families to help our daughters felt comfortable and enjoyed the trip. Thought they missed home and all people back home (my 4 year old girl kept talking and asking about them), but they had the fun and joy to meet new friends.

Seventh, God blessed us with good health and joy.

My can go on with my praise list but this post will be super long! :D

The living God we worship, will work everything out in and through your lives according to His will and glory, He never leave you nor forsake you. Wait for him in prayers. I am SO THANKFUL for every single person He brings into our lives to pray with and for us.

This is my praise to God!

You can share your praise with us at comment :) He is worthy of our praise!

Technique Tutorial-DIY Enamel Dots

Cara here bringing you this month's Technique Tutorial.

Don't you just love enamel dots...like those by My Mind's Eye....like this?

I've used them so much on recent layouts that I'm almost out of them (I think I had 3 packs of different color combos). But they're kinda expensive, so I haven't replenished my supply yet...luckily! Because then I came across a "Pin" on Pinterest about making your own enamel dots from inexpensive "pony" beads, the ones like this...

Well, it just so happens that my 7 year old daughter has a ton of these...YAY! And you can get them at Walmart, craft stores, lots of places for cheap!

So, here's what you do...
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F and put the beads on some wax paper on a cookie sheet. Bake them till they become smooth puddles (about 15 minutes).
*A word of warning-they do smell as they melt and create a bit of smoke, so you'll want to have a fan handy to extract!

Here's an example of the finished product...

Just use glue dots on the back to adhere them to your projects.

AND...if you want smaller enamel dots, just use "melty" beads (again, found easily at Walmart or craft stores)...the ones that look like this.

Now...go have fun creating!

Heartfelt Post...patience

                                         Hey there it's Christy again.

I have been trying to figure out what to write for this post for a while now.
I'm really good with sharing my art but when it comes to what is in my head maybe not so much.

We are winding up summer vacation here, don't get me wrong, I so very much love my children, but at this moment in time (as it is at the end of every summer vacation) I am READY for them to go back to school. My patience has slowly and surely been eaten away day after day . I always start of vacation eager and excited, looking forward to long days, sleeping in and no planning. It never works out that way though and by the end I am just tired.

I think it all came to a head yesterday as I was driving my middle daughter to soccer training, trying to jam in all the errands I needed to do before I had to be back and picking her up. Packing the oldest up to get her ready to go back to college (which she does actually today) and keeping a 6 year old entertained and out of trouble. (whew... rambling)

Anyway here I am in the car, 2 lanes merging into one, when I nearly got into an accident. Totally my fault, I was rushing and grumbling and not paying attention. Of course at first I immediately started complaining about the other driver who had refused to let me merge in front of them, never mind that the very next driver DID let me in, when my 6 year old picked up on it, and anyone who has been around 6 yr olds know; they are great imitators. And I heard myself through her....

Can you say WAKE UP CALL.  I wasn't going to be late, the store I was going to wasn't about to close, and I actually had plenty of time to get everything done that I needed to. It was my lack of patience that was leading me to this. So what if the driver didn't let me in...

I took a very deep breath
Psalm 37:7-9
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm. For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land.

Wait Patiently, STOP BEING ANGRY, turn from your rage maybe some of the hardest things to do, but turning things over to the Lord, and accepting that HE will take care of everything in the end.

It is something we all have to deal with, but in the end we are not dealing alone.

Mixed Media Thursday

Hey Everyone
It's Christy again with another Mixed Media Thursday.

Do you ever think mixed media isn't for you? Maybe you are a card maker or scrapbooker and figure mixed media techniques don't work for what you do.
Or that you need to go out and buy all new supplies to enter the mixed media world.

Well today I'm here to show you how YOU can make a mixed media card using supplies you all ready have on hand (and maybe a quick trip into the kitchen for the last one).

This is the finished card.
Doesn't look to hard, right, and with the extra materials gives it a ton of texture.

Supplies:
Patterned paper, cheesecloth, gel medium, solvent ink, tissue or sewing pattern paper, book text (or more patterned paper), card base, and a background stamp

1:Place a piece of patterned paper onto your card stock base
2: Using Gel Medium place a piece of the cheesecloth into the center of the card.

3:Tear a piece of book text (or patterned paper), ink the edges and layer over your cheesecloth, making sure some still poles out.

4: Using the background stamp and solvent ink stamp across the tissue paper.
Cut out a heart shape from it.

5:Using Gel Medium adhere the heart over all the layers. Outline with a charcoal pencil & smudge. Add your sentiment

And you are DONE!
How easy was that.

Incorporating mixed media techniques into projects like cards adds a fun new element.
Enjoy creating!

August Main Challenge #31

Cara here to bring you this month's Main Challenge...."I Can Do All Things Through Christ".
For I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

God created us to do great things and gives us the strength, courage and perseverance to do them!  He also delights in us and with us when we do---isn't that cool? So this month I want to you to create a project about an accomplishment...it can be your own or a loved ones.

The LORD your God is with you,
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with his love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17

I chose to create a layout about my daughter Ellie's Kindergarten graduation (back in spring 2012). She is in the Dual-Language program and many times felt overwhelmed not understanding very much of the Spanish language, but she has stuck with it despite her fears, and is on her way to becoming a fluent Spanish speaker (she will be going into the 2nd grade in the program this Fall). I know God is so very proud of her...just like I am!

So, you can choose anything that you consider an accomplishment---completing a degree, finishing a race, beating an illness, weight loss, etc. Can't wait to see what God is doing in your lives.

Oh, and don't forget the Scrap Twist...use metal or something metallic on your project.

Here are the Design Team Projects...

Don't forget to hover your mouse over each layout to see what each DT member has to say about their project.

Pure Painted Signs

Here's what Celisa has to share about her company:

My name is Celisa Schumpert and I am a wife, a mom and I have a love for all things creative.  My husband and I were blessed to spend over 20 years in youth ministry before helping begin a start up church about 3 years ago that has grown to about 1700 weekly attendance, it has been awesome watching God at work in our new adventure.  I am also a mom to three children 20, 16 and 8.  Around 7 years ago we were blessed to bring home our 8 year old from China and it doing so developed a heart for orphans and a desire to help them find forever families.  As a result, I wanted to start a business that could give to that purpose.  I am blessed to combine my two passions into my relatively new business, Pure Painted Signs.  I have always loved painting and with this endeavor I am able to give 10% to my church and 40% to orphan causes around the world, as well as supporting families who are seeking to adopt.

The prize is a wooden sign such as:
