10 Ways To Love

I found this notes posted on our church bulletin few months ago and I thought I’d love to share these practical ways that we all  can do to show love to others so that they may know God’s love.
10 Ways To Love
  1. Listen without interrupting (Proverbs 18)
  2. Speak without accusing (James 1:18)
  3. Give without sparing (Proverbs 21:26)
  4. Pray without ceasing (Colossians 1:9)
  5. Answer without arguing (Proverbs 17:1)
  6. Share without pretending (Ephesians 4:!5)
  7. Enjoy without complaint (Philippians 2:14)
  8. Trust without wavering (1 Corinthians 13:7)
  9. Forgive without punishing (Colossians 3:13)
  10. Promise without forgetting (Proverbs 13:12)
In the New Testament I found 14 verses that quote Jesus’ command for all of us to love one another for He has loved us first. They are:
  • John 15:12 (ESV)“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
  • 1 John 3:11 (ESV)For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
  • John 13:34 (ESV)A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
  • John 15:17 (ESV)These things I command you, so that you will love one another. The Hatred of the World
  • Romans 12:10 (ESV)Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
  • 1 John 4:11 (ESV)Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:9 (ESV)Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another,
  • 1 Peter 1:22 (ESV)Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,
  • 1 Peter 4:8 (ESV)Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
  • 1 John 3:10 (ESV)By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. Love One Another
  • 1 John 3:23 (ESV)And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.
  • 1 John 4:7 (ESV)Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
  • 1 John 4:12 (ESV)No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
  • 2 John 1:5 (ESV)And now I ask you, dear lady—not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning—that we love one another.
What do you do to show love to others?

By Faith

Many times I told people that I lived by faith in doing God’s will in my life. But did I really understand what it means living by faith? Have I really been living by faith?
For several days this words keep bothering my heart, not in a negative way, but in a way that I feel that God is trying to tell me something. And yes, He did!
As I read the verse over and over again, thinking of it, praying using it, God reveals to me that to live by faith is not the day when we in need of something, not only on days when we live depend on financial supports we receive every month, but living by faith starts since the day I say, “Dear Lord Jesus, be the Savior, King and Lord of my life.”
Living by faith is how we walk following Christ since the very first day we have new life in Christ.
Living by faith is when we trust in His word and live it out.
Live by faith is all about Christ, the One we trust but we haven’t seen Him, but knowing well in our heart that we will see Him face to face on the day He comes again in His glory.
Living by faith is not about we depend on God for what we need but it is more that what God wants to do with our lives, yes, He is also the providers in our lives.
Living by faith is to set our eyes on Jesus only as we walk in obedience to His Lordship in our lives.
How do you live by faith today?

New Identity

I don’t know how many times I have read this Ephesians 1:1-14, or heard someone preached about it, or I shared about it to others at a small group meetings, but this week God showed more deeper understanding of who I am, who we are in Christ Jesus when we trust in Him and follow Him.
One word that pop up to me every time I read this passage every day is PREDESTINE, in another word decided in advance.
he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will (Ephesians 1:5, ESV)
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. (Ephasians 1:5, NLT)
God has predestined us to be His children! Isn’t that an amazing truth to know that He has in planned since the beginning to make us His children, be part of His family? That’s the truth I wanna know and remember forever.
Knowing that God decided to choose me to be his child secures me. That truth gives me freedom. He is my Father! What could be more amazing than having the Best Dad ever, the One who has the power over everything, the One who controls everything?
He renew our lives. Through Jesus, His only Son, he forgave us, redeemed us and gave us new life in Jesus. We have new identity in Christ.
We are who we are in Christ now because of God’s grace and will. We are not who we were in the past or what people say about us. For a long time, I lived believing who I was under certain circumstances and what people told me who I was. I often asked my friends this question, “who do you think I am? what do you think I can do?” That because I didn’t have Jesus and the truth. That because I didn’t have self-image and didn’t feel secure. I lived to only make people to like me. That was temporary.
When I read this passage on my NLT Life Application Bible Study, these truths reveals who we are in Christ when we come to believe and trust in Him:
  • We are blessed with every spiritual blessings from heaven (Ephesians 1:3).
  • We are holy and found without fault (Ephesians 1:4).
  • We are adopted as God’s children (Ephesians 1:5,6).
  • We are redeemed and forgiven from our sins (Ephesians 1:7).
  • We are brought under Christ’s authority. He controls everything. (Ephesians 1:10,11)
  • We are identified as belonging to God by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13).
I hope today, God will show you more of Him and give you wisdom to understand who you are in Him. I pray and ask God to continue enlighten your hearts and mine with His Holy Spirit as we read and search His word.

DRAFT - DT VIEWING ONLY - Sketches for January to April 2014

Janaury 2014 Layout Sketch and  Card Sketch:
Theme:  Friends Forever
Bible Verse Inspiration:  Proverbs 17:17 "A friend loves at all times..."
Guest Designer:  Lisa Hoel
Prizes: Nolene, Christy, Cara

I loved the sketch for this month! It was great inspiration for creating this LO. I tend to use only 1-2 pictures on each page but this sketch really encouraged me to expand up to 4! One of my passions in life is to provide medical care to the underserved populations in third world countries. In 2005, I had the opportunity to go to Honduras with a medical team through a ministry called Heart to Honduras. I fell head-over-hills in love with the people in the village of Robledales and have been blessed to make ten trips over the last eight years. One of the blessings of returning to the same village each time has been the opportunity to build relationships. It truly is like a family reunion when I return! The children featured in this LO were just babies when I first met them! These pictures were taken this past June.  As important as it is to provide basic medical care to these people, the most important thing we share with them is the love of Jesus! We go to serve the underserved but what really happens is they minister to me in a much bigger way that has changed the course of my life! God is so good! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1.

A Prayer of Trust

I scare.
I worry.
I feel uncomfortable.
I feel lost.
Instead of praying & be still in Him, I focused my eyes on those feelings that distract me from God & who He truly is.
I found this prayer post back in May from Roy Lessin. I even bookmarked it on my iPad screen. Today, I clicked on it and prayed to God. Pray of trust in Him and in His promises for me, my family and the mission work He has put in our lives.
Prayer of Trust
Lord, I trust in You. I believe in You. I hope in You. You are my confidence, my assurance. I lean upon You, for You are my Rock; I depend upon You, for You are my Provider; I delight in You, for You are the joy of my life. My heart rests in You; my faith responds to You, my soul rejoices in You.
You are the true God who cannot lie and will not fail. You are the Lord, the Almighty God, the Creator of all things. You are my Lord, My God, and my Creator.
You are my Keeper, and I am secure; You are my Father, and I am cared for; You are my Counselor and I am guided; You are my Shelter and I am safe.
I trust You in life—for the wisdom of Your ways, for the blessings of Your favor, for the sufficiency of Your grace, for the power of Your Spirit, and for the endurance that comes from Your strength.
Lord, I trust in You—my mind trusts in You, my will trusts in You, my soul trusts in You—from the depths of my being, I trust in You.
I trust You for all things.
I trust You with all things.
I trust You in all things.
I trust You through all things.
I trust You above all things.
Father, I entrust my future into Your hands, for You who are the Beginning and the End, know the end from the beginning; I entrust my hopes into Your hands, for You never lie; I entrust my labors into Your hands, for You are my exceeding great reward; I entrust my life into Your hands, for You are the only one who does all things well.
Scriptures: Psalms 5:11, 7:1, 9:10, 18:2, 20:7, 25:20, 34:22, 36:7, 37:40, 62:8, 91:2, 118:8, Proverbs 3:5-6 (source: Meet Me In The Meadow)
I am thankful that we have the God who is trustworthy and faithful.
We can trust Him.
We can trust in Him.
We will have peace when we put our trust in God. Because Jesus has overcome the world!
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NLT)
We will have peace to go through our every day life when we trust in Him and fix our hearts and minds in Christ and His words.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:6-9 NLT)

I pray for you today, may your put your trust in God & He strengthen your faith in Christ Jesus, our Savior. I pray He will bless you as you walk with Him. Amen.

CHALLENGE: To be Thankful is To Be Truly Content....

"I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder." ~G.K. Chesterton~

Your challenge is to create a project using the word or phrase "thanks, thanksgiving, thankful, thankfulness, give thanks," somewhere on your project!

Greg Simas discusses the concept of Christian thanksgiving…

Giving thanks in all circumstances is the most reliable indicator of my spiritual health. A biblically grateful and thankful person is someone who appreciates both how undeserving he/she is before God and how generous God is to them. But, how do we honestly give thanks when we face difficult situations and circumstances in our lives?
Giving Thanks In All Circumstances

I Thess. 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Recently, I have faced events that would challenge the very foundation of this verse. In the past several months I’ve experienced personal loss, family members dying and outright injustices.

Yet the verse remains, “give thanks in all circumstances.”

As I meditated on 1 Thess. 5:18, the Lord revealed a simple truth, making the verse clear to me. To be honest, this truth was right in front of me but I didn’t see it.
Here it is.

The verse says that we are to give thanks “in” all circumstances NOT “for” all circumstances. The Bible never tells me to give thanks FOR injustice or loss but to give things IN them.
I can give thanks IN all circumstances because God IS found in each one. Yes, God is found in each circumstance, even the most difficult ones, if we just look hard enough.

Three Things to Consider About Giving Thanks In All Circumstances

We give thanks because every circumstance, whether it be victory or tragedy, loss or gain, joy or grief comes with the reality of finding God. Our greatest struggle, our most demanding test, every difficult question, we give thanks to God because He is with us right in the middle of it all. When we look beyond our circumstance we will see God.

We give thanks because the Lord understands and feels what we are feeling. He is not aloof, not unconcerned or emotionally disconnected.

We give thanks IN all circumstances because He promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us and He’s given us the Holy Spirit as comforter and teacher. The Holy Spirit is incredibly active in ministering to our pain or loss.

The Result of Giving God Thanks In All Circumstances

When we gain revelation on this truth then our thanksgiving to God doesn’t rely on the circumstances around us, but rather, the strength we find from a good God in us.
I am discovering that giving thanks to God in all circumstances creates security and hope, it keeps my heart healthy and un-offended.
The circumstances we face may be grim and our questions may go unanswered but if we give thanks in the middle of these circumstances we will come to know God in ways we could never imagine. From Greg

When you examine the contents of the Holy Bible, and the themes contained within it's pages, the importance of giving thanks is evident!  Here are just a small number of the Scriptures that mention being thankful, thanks, thanksgiving....

*Psalm 69:30 (NAS) I will praise the name of God with song, And shall magnify Him with thanksgiving

*Psalm 100:4 (RSV) Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him, bless his name

*Colossians 3:15 (NAS) And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

*Colossians 4:2 (NAS) Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving

*1 Thessalonians 5:18 - In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

*Psalms 100:4 - Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, [and] into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, [and] bless his name.

*Philippians 4:6 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God..

*1 Corinthians 15:57 - But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
