Tutorial: Making the most out of die cut stickers

I love purchasing Pattern Paper packs, especially when it's a manufacturer that I love. Usually when you get the pack it includes die cut stickers, and I used be stumped by these. I always thought these are pretty, but how am I going to use these stickers. I figured oh well I will use them if I make a card. In my mind that's what they where for. Recently I figured out how to incorporate them in my projects. I adhered the die cut to chipboard and then used foam pop dots to give it dimension. Here's a step by step of how I turned these die cut stickers into die cut chipboard pieces. Here's a finished project

Hope this helps next time you purchase your next Pattern Paper pack. Have fun and I would love to see how you use your die cut stickers. You can share your projects in our Facebook SEM Chit Chat Group.

Be Blessed,

Praise YOU in the storm

Good Monday morning friends!  Today my oldest starts his very first day of kindergarten.  What a summer we had with my broken ankle and then getting super sick for three weeks in August.  I feel like the time just flew by and I wasted it.

Last night I was thinking and reading and praying.  I realized there are so many times that I am not content with where God has placed me.  He lovingly leads me where He wants me to go but I can't wait until my kids can do more for themselves, until they are out of diapers, until they stop fighting, until until until.

Today I am praising God for the three precious children he has given me and the time that I have with them.  God help me to use this time wisely for your purposes.  I am reminded that in the storms of life (and mine have been mini storms compared to the hurricanes that others have had to face) God does not remove the storm but protects me through it.

I made myself a card - lol.

A reminder that I am loved by my heavenly Father, my Creator, the lover of my soul.  My husband preached a sermon on Hosea yesterday morning and once again I was convicted that my love falls so short.  Even though God has every right to "divorce" me he does not - instead Jesus paid the ultimate price to redeem me!  My bridegroom is coming and we will have the wedding feast of the century together!  I can not wait to party with you!!  Until then, dear friends, let us praise Him in the here and now!  He is whispering through the rain "I'm with you" - thank you God!

Getting Away - Heartfelt Inspiration

Hello, Lisa here! We just got back from a weekend of camping with friends and it was nice to have a little get-away. I feel like our everyday lives are so busy and structured all the time and trying to get your schedule to mesh with a group of friends' schedules to have time together seems impossible! So, even though we had to plan this trip month's in advance it was rewarding. All the electronic gear was either left at home or out of signal range (I think a few of the our gang were going through iPhone withdrawasl though, lol) We talked, played games and went for hikes. The bigger boys found a bunch of other kids to play with and they all had a grand time. We got dirty and mosquito bitten. My youngest son woke up at 4am the first night and never went back to sleep. But it was fun. I guess my encouragement to all of you is to take time out of life, unplug, and work on building relationships with those friends and family members in your lives. In the end, that's what is important.

Guest Designer Inspirational Post

Hello friends.  This is Scrapper Myra, and I am SEM’s guest designer for August.  I am very excited about the idea of sharing my heart with you through this wonderful blog.  Thank you SEM!

First I want to share my take on this month’s main challenge about favorite vacations.  If you haven’t had the chance to make your layout, you still have time, and you might get some inspiration from my interpretation.  Take a look at the current challenge HERE.

When I found out the topic (favorite vacations), I thought of several occasions I could scrap about.  I have been blessed with the opportunity to enjoy good vacation times, knowing vacations do not have to imply traveling, but I thank God everyday for the blessing of knowing places because I know it's a privilege.  So that’s why I decided to make the page featuring a trip we had last year.  We went to San Francisco, then to Napa, and then to a business convention in Las Vegas.  It sounds very expensive… but the trick here is that at that time we were having a difficult time for so many reasons…  a lot of stress in my job; didn’t have the free time in the date I wanted so we did not plan for anything; we didn’t have a budget…the economy had caused a lot of damage and we were not the exception having only one source of income; and so much more I can’t tell you right now… But the thing is that we needed the break.  Then I had this business trip to Las Vegas scheduled, and I never mixed business with pleasure in my trips…  But suddenly all happened to be so easy for us to go a little earlier, enjoy a few days off and then attend to the convention…knowing most of the expenses for my ticket were covered already… and we had mileage, and then some friends just had gone to San Francisco and gave us tips, and so on…  Long story short, I am sure God wanted us to go because all indicated it.  It wasn’t coincidence… I think HE provided us with free road to be able to go on that trip.  And we did and enjoyed and are grateful.

I used a photo of Napa because it was the main attraction for us in this trip and being there was such a blessing…  a huge opportunity…  we thank you God because we have been such a lucky couple through our lives.  Thank you.

For the use of stencil twist I punched some scalloped and normal circles and sponged some distress ink onto the cardstock, and then embellished.

I used these grungeboard letters from Tim Holtz and painted with distress stain...  Love the effect.  They look like cork!!!!

Then to include hidden journaling I picked up Nicole’s idea from a previous post HERE and made a mini envelope.

I also stamped, cut letters in the Cricut machine, used washi tapes for some accent and inked all the edges I could (I love to ink edges!!!!).

The photo is matted with lots of patterned papers from different collections, and this is how the whole page looks:

Also want to share with you this second project…   I can’t deny there is some things in my life I don’t understand because it’s for God to know what’s best for us, right?  But as an imperfect human I am…I wish I had children, I wish I had a father longer in my life, I’d love to have a different relationship with some people, and the list is long…  but as my husband always says:  “God needs to create balance”.  We have other things that compensate for the lacks of these ones we think are important…    So I dedicated this layout to the simple things in life… those that make us remember, life is about little things.

The photo is from same trip I told you about before.  When we were at the convention I was attending in Las Vegas, we had this break and stopped for a cup of coffee and took one picture to each other.   We loved them because they show exactly how we are.

I started with a dark brown cardstock as base, stamped some blue accents around and used different sized circles from patterned paper (a Crate Paper collection), to create an area for the photos and other elements.

I stamped the word “enjoy” directly to the cardstock, and accented the dot in the “j” with glossy accents and glitter.  I continued the title with the word “simple” with fabric Thickers letters and added some personality by stamping different patterns on them.  I love how the letters turned out to be so distinctive and unique.  And finally completed the title with the word “things” which I just hand wrote and cut.

Then for embellishments I used some washi tape as well, other grungeboard elements (he, she, coffee cup), doily (also stamped on it to create unity), buttons and ribbon…  and again, inked as much as I could… LOL!

I included a list of some of the “little” things I enjoy in life as the journaling.  For this I used the computer and a tag from a Page Maps 2009 free digi image.

Here’s the whole page:

Hope you liked my projects and don’t forget to participate in the current challenge.

You can also get to know more of me and see more projects, visiting my blog HERE.

Thanks again for reading this and thank you SEM for the opportunity.

Challenge #19-Favorite Vacation

Hi fellow scrappers! Cara here (from sunny Boise, Idaho, USA) to say hope you're all having a great summer! Here in the US, summer usually means a vacation of some sort...so this month the challenge is to create a layout about one of your favorite vacations

A vacation is a time when we can be free from the responsibility of work, duty or activity. Vacations can be one of the ways God blesses us with times of rest, relaxation, and refreshment.  To many of us the first thing that may come to mind is "family vacation"...but a vacation can take on many forms. It could mean a romantic getaway with your husband, a church retreat, a yearly camping trip, or a fun weekend of scrapbooking with friends. It could also be a child's summer vacation from school and a chance to capture (and scrap) all those fun summer memories at home. Whatever the "vacation", share with us why it was so special to you, and maybe even how God used it to "refresh" you!

SCRAP TWIST: You must use a stencil/mask on your layout. Don't have a stencil or mask? Create one of your own using cardstock and your punches!

And here are the layouts our Design Team created (hover your mouse over the picture to see what each Design Team member has to say about their project).

Our August Sponsor is Artful Delight .
You can win a $40 Gift Certificate to the Artful Delight Kit Club and Store.

Winners . . .

Well it is that time again!  Good Sunday to you all.  We had so many participants this past month that it took us a little longer to come up with all our winners :)   This is Elizabeth here to announce our July challenge winners.  Before I do I want to remind you to check outSEM's Chit Chat Facebook Group  for some scrapping fun!  We would love to have you!  Grab a cup of (iced) tea or coffee and join us for some girl time.  We would love for you to share your layouts or links to your blog posts, interact with us about the latest scrapbooking tips, techniques and trends, or just bless us with your company.  Lots of chit chat goes on over there and we are enjoying getting to know everyone better.  Won't you join us?

THANK YOU to each and everyone of you who participated in our July challenges!  It was such a blessing to look at all your pages and be reminded of all the created beauty around us!  I love that while God could have created everything in grays and we would have never known any better He didn't.  Instead He chose to bless us with His creativity, grace us with His beauty, surround us with His artistry and fill our world with color!   Surely we are surrounded by His everyday miracles :)

I put all the entries into random.org  and the winner is . . .Tina C!   Congratulations Tina!!  Please send us an e-mail at scrappingeverydaymiracles@yahoo.com to claim your $30 Ormolu Gift Certificate!  Enjoy :)

And now it's time to announce our Top 3 choices from the July Challenge #18!  We have been so blessed by your pages and I was thrilled with how many people participated in both the main challenge and the sketch challenge for July!  So many in fact that we had a hard time choosing just three and so there were some "ties".   Thank you for participating in the challenge and don't forget about the scrap twist we always throw in :)  Remember to link up your post and not just your main blog.
(Note: The Top 3 are only chosen from the Main Challenge...)

1.  Tracy from Garden of Grace
Tracy's gorgeous page about their family dog (a created beauty indeed) was stunning - the flower cluster and stitching was just beautiful!

2. We had a tie for second between Felicity and Toni
First up is Felicity.
Felicity's page about her newborn niece just took our breath away!  So precious and indeed life is the best created beauty there is :)

Next we have Toni.
Toni's page of her son with his 4H animals did a great job of capturing the story through her photos!  All the little details were just a great addition to the page :)

   3.    And finally for third place we had another tie between Trish and Jessica
First up is Trish
Trish's page of her twin boys just made us smile!  Her photos perfectly captured the unique personalities of her sons while showing gratitude for the joy these "created beauties" add to her family!.

Last but not least is Jessica
Jessica announced her fourth pregnancy through her page.  Congrats Jessica we are thrilled with you at the created beauty growing inside!  Indeed one of the best "everyday miracles" :)

Congrats ladies . . . and thank you for inspiring us!!!  Feel free to check out these ladies blogs and see the details of their pages - leave some love while you are at it :)  If you were one of our top three (well five this month - lol) you are welcome to take the top 3 badge from our sidebar and display it proudly on your blog!   Many thanks everyone everyone for playing along!  We enjoy visiting your blogs or on-line photo albums and seeing all the talent you have been given!  We look forward to seeing your entries for the August Main Challenge and August's sketch challenge.
I hope you all have a great day of rest and week ahead of you.  Thank you for being such a blessing to this design team!  May you experience God's blessings in the everyday miracles around you :)
