(Pinterest Post) The Main Thing

Is to keep the Main thing the Main thing!  Happy Monday :)  This is Elizabeth here with a pinterest post for you all.  I'm not sure about you but I've been struggling lately with all the busyness of life to keep things in perspective.  I have such a hard time with all the running around remembering to take the time to sit.  Just sit.  Be still.  Be still and know that God is who He says He is.

Pinterest is a great place to find all sorts of inspiration.  I use it to categorize my recipes, craft projects, home decor, scrapbook pages, cards, etc.  I feel like my boards tend to reflect my life a little bit.  My boards need organization - badly!  Hey wait . . . so does my life!

One of my favorite pin boards is titled Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing.  On this board you will find pins like this

Dear friends.  I am grounded in times of stress because of the foundation my life is built on.  It is not because of anything I do but because of what was done for me!  I am reminded to run to the rock.  This board is a source for me to remember when my world is shaking heaven stands and when my heart is breaking I never leave His Hands.  This is by far my favorite pinboard . . . what is yours?

July Sketch Challenge

All ready for our new sketch this month? This fun sketch is from Becky Fleck's Pagemaps. I absolutely love birds, so that's what initially drew me in...but I also love that it uses multiple photos with lots of room for fun embellishments.

And don't forget to include the SCRAP TWIST: Use a computer-generated element on your layout (this could be your journaling, a digi-element from a digital scrapbooking kit, or just something fun you find online and print out to use).

I hope you enjoy this sketch as much as I do...I'm really excited to see what you come up with.

Here's this month's Guest Designer's (the very talented Svetlana Austin) take on the sketch:

And here's what the Design Team came up with:

Guest Designer Inspirational Post

Hello, everyone! It is Svetlana and I am very happy and thankful to join all the talented ladies at Scrapping Everyday Miracles as a guest designer for this month.
This month challenge is all about God’s creation. It is such an inspiring and diverse theme. It is all around us and inside of us. It is screaming very loudly at us every day: God is great and He is wonderful!
Once I saw the theme of the challenge, I knew immediately which photograph I want to scrap. Then the words of the Psalm 19 came into my mind: “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork…”
My husband took this picture of the sun setting skies from the roof of our house a couple of years ago. We very often witness the most incredible dramatic sunsets from our part of town.

God made this world so beautiful that we can enjoy this beauty and learn through it of His greatness. I like the way Max Lucado wrote about it:
“Have you ever wondered why God gives so much? We could exist on far less. He could have left the world flat and grey; we wouldn't have known the difference. But He didn't.
He splashed orange in the sunrise and cast the sky in blue. And if you love to see geese as they gather, chances are you'll see that too. Did He have to make the squirrel's tail furry? Was He obliged to make the birds sings? And the funny way that chickens scurry or the majesty of thunder when it rings? Why give a flower fragrance? Why give food its taste? Could it be He loves to see that look upon your face?
If we give gifts to show our love, how much more would He? If we - speckled with foibles and greed - love to give gifts, how much more does God, pure and perfect God, enjoy giving gifts to us?”
I am very thankful to God for all the amazing gifts He poured into my life so abundantly! I am especially thankful to Him for all the wonderful people He blessed me with.  People are the most treasured thing for God of all of His creation. It could be nice if we would think of it more often and treat each other in such a way. Each of us is a walking miracle - so dear in God’s eyes that He didn’t spare His One and Only Son that through Him we can have a relationship with our Creator.

And because of it all my heart says: thank you, Father!

Guest Designer Svetlana Austin

Hi it is Nicole and I get the awesome opportunity to announce the guest designer for July... we are so blessed to have Svetlana Austin!

She is an amazing designer and I have been so inspired by her work and all she shares both on her blog and other scrapbooking sites.  Here is what she has to say and few of her wonderful creations.  Make sure you come back on Thursday for her Guest Designer  post where she will share with you the layout she created for the July Challenge and even more inspiration

Hello everyone! My name is Svetlana Austin. I am a Russian girl who ended up living in hot South Africa for the last 10 years. I met my South African husband while he was doing mission work in Russia. We have 2 beautiful sons - Ivan is now 9 and Sebastian is 7. They keep us busy and fill our lives with sunshine (not that we have lack of it in the northern part of our country).
I was always creative. I tried many different crafts but once I was introduced to scrapbooking by my friend, I never stopped. It was 8 years ago. I defiantly love the most to create layouts about my little boys. My aim is to reflect their personalities through my work. Sometimes I like to make very romantic and feminine layouts about myself or about my girl-friends. It allows me to express the stuff that I personally like. My scrapbooking style is always determined by photographs I use and what kind of story I would like to tell through my project.
I can truly say that my life if filled with everyday miracles - big and small. Since the day I made the decision to follow God and live for Him, it'd been one big adventure. There is so much in my life that I can't stop thanking God for! - my wonderful husband, my gorgeous boys, my amazing friends, beautiful sunsets and breathtaking landscapes.... I can carry  on for a very long time! But most of all I am thankful to God for His love for me and the precious gift of salvation. I know that there will be a lot of everyday miracles to discover and appreciate in my life which means that I will have more and more reasons to be thankful to my dear Lord. I hope that you too will look around and thank Him for all the miracles that  He brought in your lives.
And I am thankful for this opportunity to guest design this month for Scrapping Everyday Miracles and share with you a little bit of my heart.

Challenge #18- Created Beauty

June winners will be announced on July 7!!!

Happy July friends!  It's Sherri here, and I am happy to be bringing you this month's challenge on this first week of summer holidays here in Manitoba, Canada.

Have you ever noticed the way babiescan stare at the simplest of objects for minutes on end?  Have youever stopped to wonder why that changes as we grow older? We becomeless intrigued by the beauty around us and more distracted by our ownagendas.  My challenge to you thismonth is called Created Beauty.  Scrap about the things you see around you, everyday, that remind you that God created everything.  What that means is that your photos don't have to be limited by only the things we find in nature, but could include other topics such as the birth of a new baby, or abstract feelings like the love shared between two people, all of which are created by God and point toward Him.

Scrap twist: stitch on your layout(faux, by hand, or by machine are all acceptable)

We have theprivilege of being in relationship with an amazing inventor, andartist, the creator of all things. He could have chosen for us tolive in an bland, uninteresting world, of black and white, but Hedidn't. Scripture says that He created all things, seen and unseen, and that He delights in His children. Psalm 8 reads “When Iconsider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and thestars, which you have set in place... You put everything under ourfeet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds inthe sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of theseas.” There is nowhere we can turn where creation doesn't pointback to its creator. From a brilliant rainbow after the rain, tothe beauty of a new born baby, to intricate spider webs, to fragrantrose bushes, to a deep and meaningful friendship, to tiny red ladybugs. There is beauty all around usjust begging for us to stop and take it in.  Let's choose to stop with intention, and look with our hearts at all the ways our worldis being colored by creation.
Here is what some of our Design Team recognized as created beauty this month.
(hover your mouse over the picture to see what each Design Team member has to say about their project)

Our sponsor this month is Ormolu
Kaitlin is generously offering a $30 gift certificate to the Ormolu shop.
Here is what Kaitlin has to say about her site: Ormolubegan in 2007 while I was attending college for interior design. While workingon assignments for my degree I realized I actually had more fun designing thepresentations for my projects. I knew this was the case when I spent far moretime finding just the right font and perfecting my layout than looking forfinishes and checking on building codes. Additionally I was teaching at a localscrapbook store and started designing custom embellishments for myclasses.
Aftergraduation I decided to invest more time and energy into Ormolu rather thanlook for a career in Interior Design so that I could stay home with mychildren. In 2009 I adapted a green philosophy and began using only recycledpapers and implemented soy ink and wind power to create my products. Theproducts I design for my line have a tendency to the cross the lines ofstationery and scrapbooking, as I have a deep love for the vast world ofpaper. We encourage you to stop by Ormolu at any of the following:

In addition to the gift certificate, Kaitlin is also generously offering SEM readers a 10% discount on all purchases through the month of July *use code SEM10
If you would like a chance to win a $30 gift certificate to Ormolu all you have to do is complete the challenge, incorporating the scrap twist and link it up here by July 31st.

Your layout could be chosen as
the Design Team's Top 3.  You may also be selected as our the Guest Designer for  the month of September.

(Guest Designers are chosen from those that participate in challenges and/or participate in SEM Chit Chat Group on Facebook )

Winners will be announced August 4th !!!
